We are at the very beggining of the Astrological New Year. Yes it’s here! Can you feel it? That electric, restless, gotta-do-something energy humming in the air? It’s like the cosmic equivalent of your mo
ning coffee kicking in—except this isn’t just any morning. This is THE morning. The moment the Sun waltzes into Aries, kicks over the dreamscape of Pisces, and yells, “Wake up! It’s go-time!” Like my father when I was a kid in my bed dreaming that I was getting dressed to go to school.
And let’s be honest, after floating in the depths of Pisces season—where we’ve been marinating in emotions, nostalgia, and possibly too much Scapism—it’s about time we got a little fire under our feet.
Equinox: When the Universe Hits the Reset Button Here’s the deal: it’s not just us astrology nerds making a big deal about this day. The whole world is vibing with it. It’s the Vernal Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere and the Autumnal Equinox in the Southern. That means balance—day and night doing a perfect 50/50 split, like celestial co-parents agreeing on custody for the next season.
And get this: I have just learned that cultures all over the globe have been throwing parties for centuries to mark this exact cosmic reset. ✨ In Iran and across the Middle East and Central Asia, it’s Norouz, a festival so ancient it predates most modern religions. It’s all about renewal, abundance, and cleansing out the old energy (which, let’s be honest, we all need).
✨ The Bahá'í calendar starts fresh today, marking a spiritual beginning for its followers.
✨ Pagans and Wiccans are out there honoring Ostara, the festival of fertility and rebirth.
✨ In Japan, it's literally "Vernal Equinox Day," a public holiday dedicated to balance, reflection, and honoring ancestors.
✨ In China, it’s Chunfen, a time when yin and yang harmonize before shifting into new seasonal energy.
✨ in Australia, this day is extra special because we also celebrate Harmony Day (21.03), a time to honor cultural diversity, inclusion, and unity. It’s a perfect reminder that while Aries season pushes us toward individual strength, true power comes when we stand together. Nowrooz is a time of renewal, rejuvenation, and reflection. It is a time to put the past behind and focus on the future. The days leading up to Nowrooz are filled with cleaning and decluttering the home, as it is believed that a clean home will bring good luck in the new year. People also purchase new clothes to wear on Nowrooz, as this is a symbol of starting fresh and beginning anew
Aries, Fire, and an Ancient Persian Tradition I recently came across a Persian cultural tradition that immediately struck me as deeply connected to Aries season. It’s called Haft-Seen, a New Year’s table filled with symbolic items, each carrying a powerful message about growth, renewal, and strength—exactly the kind of energy Aries brings into our lives.
This tradition is part of Norouz, the Persian New Year, celebrated at the Spring Equinox—the same moment when the Sun enters Aries, marking the Astrological New Year. Norouz is an ancient festival, honoring the rebirth of nature, the turning of the cosmic wheel, and the fire that fuels new beginnings.
Sound familiar? Aries, the first sign of the zodiac, is ruled by Mars, the planet of action, courage, and passion. It’s the fire that initiates life, the warrior’s call to step forward boldly. The Haft-Seen tradition carries that same essence—a reminder that every new cycle demands courage, intention, and the willingness to grow.
So, let me introduce you to these seven sacred symbols and how they align with the universal themes of Aries.
The Seven 'S' Symbols of Norouz & Their Aries Connection Sabzeh (Sprouted Wheatgrass) → Growth & Renewal Just like Aries ignites a new cycle, Sabzeh represents fresh beginnings, reminding us that life is always in motion. The seeds we plant now— physically, emotionally, spiritually—determine the journey ahead.
Samanū (Wheat Pudding) → Strength & Resilience A slow-cooked dish made from wheat, Samanū symbolizes endurance and patience. Aries teaches us that strength isn’t just about raw energy —it’s also about sustaining momentum and trusting the process.
Senjed (Lotus Tree Fruit) → Love & Attraction This fruit represents deep love and commitment. Aries may be fiercely independent, but its fire is also magnetic. When we fully embrace our authentic selves, we naturally attract the right people and opportunities.
Serkeh (Vinegar) → Wisdom & Maturity Vinegar symbolizes age and patience—qualities Aries often struggles with. This is the lesson Aries must learn: true warriors don’t just charge ahead blindly; they reflect, adapt, and grow wiser with experience. Sīb (Apple) → Beauty & Vitality The apple represents health, beauty, and vitality—pure Aries energy. It reminds us that passion and enthusiasm are magnetic forces, and when we honor our inner fire, we radiate confidence.
Sīr (Garlic) → Protection & Strength Garlic wards off negativity and protects against harm, much like Aries’ natural instinct to defend what matters. Aries teaches us to stand strong, set boundaries, and move forward with fearless conviction.
Somāq (Sumac Berries) → The Rising Sun Sumac’s vibrant red hue represents the first light of dawn—a perfect metaphor for Aries, the zodiac’s first spark. Every Aries season is a sunrise, a chance to start fresh, unafraid and unapologetic.
Beyond the ‘S’ Symbols: More Universal Aries Themes The Haft-Seen table also includes objects that, while not beginning with “S,” hold universal significance:
A Book (Wisdom & Knowledge) → Aries' fire is most powerful when guided by insight.
Candles (Enlightenment & Purpose) → Like Aries, fire illuminates and leads the way forward.
Eggs (Fertility & New Life) → Every action we take now is the seed of something greater.
Goldfish (Progress & Movement) → Aries doesn’t stay still. It moves, it evolves, it forges ahead.
Mirror (Self-Reflection) → Aries thrives on authenticity—knowing who you are is the first step in claiming your power.
Subscribed From Dreamland to Action Mode: The Aries Surge Pisces season had us deep in our feels, reflecting, dissolving, surrendering. Beautiful? Yes. But also, let’s be real—kind of exhausting. Enter Aries: the astrological equivalent of a triple shot of espresso.
Aries doesn’t wait for permission. Aries doesn’t overthink it. Aries sees the door and walks through it before you’ve even figured out where it leads. This is raw, untamed, I’ll-figure-it-out-later energy, and honestly, sometimes that’s exactly what we need. Overthinking kills momentum. Aries is momentum.
So, what does this mean for you? It means if you’ve been waiting for a sign to start something—this is it. Want to launch a project? Do it. Thinking of making a bold move? Now’s the time. The stars have literally hit the cosmic refresh button and handed you a blank page. How are you going to fill it?

But even if you’re just vibing at home, take a second to send up a little gratitude for the cosmic intelligence that has been lighting our way since forever.
The 5 Big Calls of 2025 With so many cosmic shifts happening, what are the major themes we need to pay attention to in this new astrological year? Let’s break it down:
1. The Call for Wholeness and Leadership Saturn in Aries is demanding that our actions have structure and responsibility. The raw impulse of Aries will need to be accompanied by planning and patience if we want our projects to be sustainable in the long run. No more reckless moves—this year asks for bold but well- thought-out action.

It’s about finding a balance between trusting the flow and taking practical, disciplined steps. The divine and the mundane must walk hand in hand.
3. Being Both a Teacher and a Student Jupiter enters Cancer in June 2025, calling us to embrace both learning and teaching. This will be a powerful year for mentors, educators, and anyone looking to share wisdom. At the same time, we are all students of life—there will be lessons to absorb from our past, our family, and our emotions.
